The beginning of 1977 brought the end of the six-piece version of Reflection. The band went back to its original four-piece membership and contiued to add to their following. In February, they teamed up with another popular group, "Golden Grove," for a big event at one of Columbus' hottest nightclubs. At the end of the night, the two bands were on stage together for a four-song finalé that brought the house down. |
Reflection and Golden Grove recorded live at the Sangria North Nightclub, Old Henderson Rd., Columbus, Ohio. (The members of Golden Grove were: Ric Boals - Guitar & Vocals / Sonny Yinger - Drums & Vocals / Mark Yinger - Bass and Vocals / Mindy Mickel - Vocals / Roger Dougherty - Keyboards and Vocals) |

In July, the group was performing in Cincinnati, Ohio when Wolfman Jack, the host of NBC's famous "Midnight Special" was seen in the audience. He was kind enough to join the band on stage, and once again, the entire event was captured on tape and in photos. He started out with some stand-up comedy and then sang a tune. |

These tape recordings were made in August, 1977 at the same club, a week after the Wolfman Jack appearance. By this time, the gorup had also started working on original tunes with plans to record at least two of them before the end of the year. |

The group went into the studio in late fall of 1977 and recorded "Friend" and "Headed Home." These recordings were the two sides of a 45 RPM single that was to be released by early 1978. It was decided that "Friend" would be the A side, since country music was becoming very mainstream at the time. |
